With approval, recognized student groups and organizations may be permitted to use Lory Dining Services kitchen facilities and equipment to prepare food for on campus events held at the Lory Student Center (LSC). The purpose of these events must be to educate the campus and community to a different culture, religion, or ethnicity. These events must be officially recognized by the University, be open to the public and include a programming component.
Use of facilities and equipment must be under the supervision of a qualified Dining Services staff member.
Kitchen equipment is available for use at no charge. Lory Dining Services does not permit rental of any china, glassware, or other equipment at any time.
Student groups and organizations using the LSC kitchen will be charged for all expenses incurred by Dining Services.
All users must supply their own food including spices and condiments from an approved food source and provide sales receipts for these items. Users are responsible for bringing in their own service ware and decorations. If fryer oil is required, it will be purchased by Dining Services and charged to the user.
Labor will be charged as follows:
The LSC kitchen is a non-reservable area. Use of the kitchen is only permitted with the approval of Dining Services. For this reason, users are required to make a request to use the kitchen at least 4 weeks in advance of their event. First-time users should allow additional time to ensure the success of their event.
Please note that the space and equipment needs of LSC Catering will always take precedence over any other event.
If an event is approved for kitchen use, the user must complete two forms; a Special Event Form that is an overview of the event, and a Food Form that lists all the food that will be served, the ingredients, where the food will be purchased and the method of preparation for each item. World Unity Fair participants should use this World Unity Fair Food Form. Completed forms must be returned to a designated Dining Service contact no later than one week after approval for use of the kitchen is given. Environmental Health Services must review and approve all food items.
After approval by Environmental Health Services, individuals from the user group must meet with the Dining Services event supervisor no later than two weeks prior to the event. At least one person who will prepare food in the kitchen must be present at this meeting. Additional meetings with Dining Services may be necessary. Please allow enough planning time to ensure the success of your event.
For further information on use of LSC kitchen facilities, food approvals, or other Dining Services related issues, please contact the Assistant Director of Dining Services (491-5912).
